Frequently Asked Questions
D0 you offer online/video counselling?
Yes. I offer counselling via Zoom, secure messaging and secure email.
How much does a counselling session cost?
Face-to-face sessions cost £60 for 50 minutes. All types of online therapy cost £50 per session. Payment is due before each session. Online session fees can be negotiated for people on a lower income. We can discuss this at our first session, and the fee for that session will be at the agreed rate.
Do you accept clients through private medical insurance?
I'm afraid I am unable to accept clients looking for therapy through their private medical insurance.
How do I get started?
You can ring or email using the contact details on the home page. I will get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a phone call where we talk for 15-20 minutes about what you are looking to gain from therapy, and how we can work together. There is no charge for this call.
What happens at the first session?
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other, and see how we might work together. Part of the session will be taken up by a short assessment, and - if agreed - we will also use the time to go through and sign the client-counsellor contract that sets out the counselling relationship.
The fee for the first session is due on or before the day, and can be paid in cash or via bank transfer.
What happens if I miss a session?
If you cancel a session with 36 hours notice or more, no fee is payable. If you cancel within 36 hours of your appointment, the full session fee will be payable. This also applies if you miss your session and do not cancel.
What happens when I want to end my counselling?
Part of therapy is knowing when you want to end your therapy sessions, making the decision and communicating that to your counsellor. If you decide that the time for this has come, I am happy to discuss this with you, and will usually suggest a final session to ensure that our counselling relationship has a clear and positive ending you can build on. It is also where we can review and remind ourselves of the work we have done together, and consider how you will use it going forward.
